Prolly More Than You Ever Wanted to Know!
Tonight as I post this my DVR is impatiently waiting for me to come downstairs and FINALLY, after nearly a year, watch the premier of the GREATEST.SHOW.EVER: LOST!
So instead of thinking of something outrageously witty to write, like I do everyday!
I will leave you with a little sneak peak as to what life is like living with Dad-Oh!
First off how could we ever forget THIS? This is classic Dad-Oh and will no doubt go down in the “remember when I” history book!
We have cathedral style ceilings in our upstairs so replacing light bulbs myself is out of the question. We had six out in various rooms forever! This task had been on the “honey do” list for nearly a month. Finally after lots of nagging gentle reminders last week Dad-Oh tackled the job. Not without a little humor, of course!
After Tater and his fam left, Aidan and I deflated the castle bouncer and put most of the balls away. One night I got ready for bed and when I went into our room I noticed that Dad-Oh had made the bed. Yeah, even the SENTENCE sounds suspicious, right? I thought nothing of it, until I pulled back the covers on my side and…viola!
Instead of neatly picking them up and putting them back into the bag, I simply gave a little push on over to his side of the bed, and tucked myself right in!

Like Mother, Like Son
For as long as I can remember my Mom has been telling stories about how, “Jenny (ewww! don’t you dare call me that!) didn’t have hair until she was over two years old!”
I can remember thinking to myself “oh please, I had to have had hair by then! ALL kids have hair by two! She’s just exaggerating for emphasis.”
Well, I am here to tell all nine of you that I am beginning to see some truth in the aforementioned statement! Okay, Mother Dearest here you go: I WAS WRONG!
While Aidan’s hair is definitely beginning to make an appearance, he has a long way to go before I post the “first haircut” photos!
This is me way back in the 80’s! From what I can tell I think I am 18-19 months old. Definitely no Rapunzel! Guess saving on haircuts runs in the family!
It is clear that neither of us will be making a donation to Locks of Love anytime soon! But aren’t we DARN cute!
If the picture of me wasn’t so old and 80’s looking I think it could pass as a picture of Aidan! Think he looks like me much!?

Wanted: 50+ Degrees
Another cold day in paradise. Today it managed to get all the way up to 20! What a treat! Practically summer, really! Yeah, yeah I do live in ALASKA! But for those two readers who think Sitka is all snow and igloos, it’s really not. We rarely get much snow, and winter temperatures typically stay above freezing. Except on cold, clear days like today, and tomorrow, and the next day….Ugh!
Dad-Oh took Aidan to Kindermusik today and he did good-ish! He was no Carly Jo, but he lasted the entire time without melting down from all “lame Mrs. Roger’s singing” as Dad-Oh would call it!
Dad-Oh texted me a really cute pic of Aidan banging on the cymbals–too cute!!
Today was a crazy busy day at work. Going in at 8 is really not for me! I’ll stick to my normal schedule, thankyouverymuch! Although, I did see the most beautiful pink sunrise over the snow covered mountains while driving in. And that was enough for me, if I start longing for the rosy pink hues–I’ll buy a post card!
Not much else going on. I’m heading to bed early tonight. It takes half and hour to get my side of the bed warmed up when it is this cold! And you better believe that I stay in that exact crevasse of warmness ALL night!

Back to Work I Go…
My four day weekend is over!
I could really get used to long weekends like that! Lets say seven day weekends?! I wish! Tomorrow I have to go in at 8 am to cover a domestic violence group for a coworker! What a way to start the day, huh? Tomorrow will officially be the earliest I have been to work since having Aidan! I have been loving every minute of it by the way!
Today baby Isabel came over to play with Aidan and bring back all the baby stuff her Mommy and Daddy borrowed. She is so stinkin’ cute! They just about have the same color hair and eyes! Aidan tried to coax her into his love cave, but she was a good girl and maintained a proper arms distance!
While they were here Aidan fiddled with the monitor heater (like he always does) and Isabel’s Daddy asked, “Does he ever turn it off, and then a few hours later you guys are wondering why it is so cold in here.”
My response, “Only everyday!” And true to my answer the little stinker pot turned off the heater, and we left for dinner at Auntie Seimeen’s and came back to FIFTY TWO degrees!!! We all kept our jackets on for the next hour!
I suppose it didn’t help that the high for the day was 15! BURRR
It’s tough to get to mad with a face like this!
Hey, nine readers a little weak on the commenting…dontcha think?!

The Aidan-Daidan Times: Month 18
Happy Half Birthday!
Dearest Aidan,
How can you be a year and a half old already!? It’s craziness! You are such a little man! Running around, climbing, playing with your toys, and entertaining yourself! It is unbelievable how fast the time goes!
I’m sure there are lots of new things you did this month, but I really think this month was about perfecting the things you already know how to do. You run and climb so well now. You have finally gotten to the point where Dad-Oh and I are confident you won’t take a tumble. You love climbing on the couch, and then sliding down the armrest. You do this over and over. There is no stopping you! So we don’t even try any more. I’m all about natural consequences.
You’re love of light switches was taken to a whole other level this month. For months you have “helped” me turn off lights as I carry you from room to room. But now that you can reach the hall light from the bottom stairs you have learned how to turn the lights off and on, and on and off and on and off….
You are such a little investigator, always trying to figure things out. You rarely sit and play with a toy exactly how it is supposed to be played with. Instead you flip it over, rip it apart, bang on it and what ever else you think fit. Instead of smiling and laughing when you go down the slide because it is fun, you slide down because that’s how you get down. That’s how the jungle climber works. You climb up one side and slide down the other, and that’s that!
Today we took you sledding with Carly Jo and Jazzie. You H.A.T.E.D. it with a fiery passion! I don’t know if it was the gloves, the boots or just the fact that it was freezing cold out–but you were not pleased!
You must have gotten my snow and cold weather suck ass gene. It’s highly genetic, I hear! Any outing that requires you to put on more clothes is not for me! Don’t worry angel, we’ll be building sand castles in a matter of weeks!
Because you have a way over the top Mommy I made you cupcakes for your half birthday. Okay, you got me I just needed a half legit reason to down a dozen cupcakes! We ate dinner as a family, yummy spaghetti. You scoffed at it for a few minutes before realizing that it was somewhat tasty. After we were through I put a cupcake on your try and you dug RIGHT IN!
How on earth you know the difference between dinner (healthy food) and desert (packed full of sugar) I would like to know. There was NO scoffing! No turning your head this way and that avoiding the spoon. Oh, no! Just full speed ahead. Trying to down every last bite before you cruel Mommy called it quits!
See how mad you got!
You little stinker!
Look at how much bigger you got in just six short months! Granted that’s one-third of your life, but still! You look so tiny sitting in the highchair eating your birthday cake!
A while back I told all of blog land that I was not going to take baths with you anymore, and that lasted all of two nights. I have been chastised by Dad-Oh ever since. “Remember when you lied to all nine of your readers on the blog?” Yeah, whatever! I just wasn’t ready to give that up yet. It’s such a special way to end the night and you really do enjoy it! You love to sing songs with me, The ABC’s and Where is Thumbkin are your favorites. We play hide and seek with the washcloth and read stories. It’s great! Maybe it’s just my way of trying to keep you little. Rest assured little one, that by the time you will be able to read this post I will have long given up family bath night!
I think you are really starting to understand love and affection because you have started seeking me out for story time insisting to sit on my lap, and seem to be wanting to cuddle more. You love hugging on me, and you give the sweetest open mouthed kisses–ever! I LOVE IT!
Out of all the posts I write for this site, these monthly update posts are by far the hardest! I start getting anxious weeks before. It’s weird because I shouldn’t, it should be like any other update post. I think I finally figured out why. I want so badly to put my love into words and not leave anything out. I have come to the realization that words can in no way come close to express the emotions I have. Love, pride, endearment, wonder, awe, passion, the list is endless. I fear that I won’t express myself enough and my love won’t be able to be translated out of my words.
Little man, just know that you are loved more than the Earth is round, and cherished more than the sunset. You are our entire world!

Bunches of Love,
Momma

Shocked!

Wow! Is this the same blog? I got confused when I saw SEVEN comments on ONE post! Guess I should post pictures of my cropped out my “privies” more often! It was such a nice treat to actually have feedback to all my hard work! Tomorrow wraps up an entire month of DAILY blogging! That’s a whole lotta Aidan-Daidan and random junk about my boring life! I bet my reader count will be bored to tears by May!
I have to admit that my photo could very well pass as one of Aidan without question! The only reason my hair is darker than his is because I’m in that bath and it’s wet. I was a major toe head! So much so that it was almost white! Now it just comes in a handy dandy bottle every six-eight weeks!
Tonight we had our weekly family dinner at Carly Jo’s house. We had the BIGGEST Chinese spread! Yum-O! Oh yeah, and don’t forget the dessert! White chocolate brownies, AND (YES, AND!) homemade carrot cake! You better believe I had me a slice of both! Aidan helped me out in that department. The poor little tyke had one of the biggest melt downs of his life after the cake was gone! Tears and all! He was not ready for that gravy train to be over! Granted it was getting dangerously close to the witching hour and no more cake is enough to send me off the deep end so I could relate! We drove the 45 seconds home and made a mad dash for the tub and jammies. Of course when he’s that overly tired he fights dreamland tooth and nail. Don’t worry Buddy, Auntie Tina sent us home with a nice big slice for tomorrow!
